It’s been the worst experience from beginning to end. This place is ********** on earth. When I finally left, it’s what I imagined leaving prison would feel. My euro notes got stuck together at reception when I arrived and they never said I gave them too much. The food (when you can get some) is dreadful. Nothing more than you might get in a school cafeteria. The buffet dining experience in Sos Aranzos restaurant is atrocious. Stressful, chaotic, disorganised. No seat if you don’t go early and I mean bang on opening time for dinner. Never found out how to order drinks. The staff never check in on you. They just take your plate whenever they assume you’ve finished. It’s a downright hostile vibe from both staff and guests. I dreaded going there every meal. One night I had a table lifted over my head to make space for other guests without so much of a word of warning and the guy (who seemed to be a Manager) looked at me sheepishly afterwards but still no apology. I was so aghast I called it a night. I just wanted to go home after this. 3 more hellish nights ahead by this point. After that I would try to find a table nearest the exit. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. No point in lingering in that atmosphere. Breakfast is also disorganised. No teaspoons next to the cups, not many tea options near the tea area. I realised you have to go to the pasta counter to get the teaspoons which you never knew if they were clean or not and there I also found a green tea basket. Why not have these things altogether? This has been my experience everywhere I’ve stayed before. No butter near the toast either. Never actually found any. Asking staff for help results in total confusion. After the spectacle of asking for a tea cup, I dared not ask for anything else. The food itself again is nothing memorable. If you miss the lunch meal times, you are stuck until dinner. The point of being on holiday is not to be on a schedule. To try new things. Your only other option apparently is the beach restaurant which is not hotel owned. I never went there. Everything felt uncomfortable. The bad experiences were mounting up. Wouldn’t it make sense to stagger the opening times of the restaurants and bars so at least there’s something available at all times? Went to get a gelato in the Central bar (being in Italy after all) the only viable option was a Corneto. I mean honestly. I could get that at home. Are you telling me these bars can’t get those warmers like Prezzo have so they could offer like a tuna melt? paninis? a bowl of chips? That is totally doable for an establishment such as this. They’re not inventing something new. The infrastructure exists. They just have to care enough which is clear they don’t. An isolated place needs to have these things in place. The rooms are dated. The bathroom smells and doesn’t feel or look clean. Water doesn’t drain well out of the shower. Feels like it will flood any minute and is also unhygienic. Double bed (actually 2 singles together) is uncomfortable. The singles come apart as you naturally move around while sleeping. Is a whole double not possible? Heck I can get a double in a Premier Inn for Christ sakes. There’s a permanent hum coming from the fridge. Been in many a room with a mini bar (which this isn’t), never had this before. All of this adds up to not being able to have a good night's sleep. The lock for the room is not very safe and the handle is falling apart. On particularly windy days, I thought it might blow open. The village is very isolated, you are trapped there unless you have your own transportation or booked excursions. The bus times are not regular or convenient. Taxis seem a no, no. So forget going out to get something to eat or exploring the area. My only excursion got cancelled last minute so I was stuck. Very poor handling of that cancellation from TUI. Still don’t actually know the reason. After this experience, it will take a lot for me to book with TUI again. The only positive is the beach and what a beach it is. It was my salvation. The water is simply wonderful. Being down there was the only time I felt happy or relaxed during my stay. Great to be able to have sun loungers and umbrellas daily at no extra cost. The shuttle service around the village is also a nice touch as it is steep down to the beach. Especially helpful getting back up. The shuttle drivers are also the most polite of all staff. Regarding the beach towels, I stayed somewhere where you could return your assigned towels at the end of each day and get a new one the next day for free. Makes perfect sense. They’re just washing them after all and it’s hygienic for everyone. As lovely as the beach is (Sardinia is renowned for its beaches), I can’t imagine there are not better places to choose to stay. I really don’t feel I’ve experienced Sardinia at all. Just the terrible Colonna prison camp. I couldn’t wait to leave. It's questionable if I will return to Sardinia but never, ever again at this place and I wish this wasn’t my first experience of the country. It’s imprinted a bad impression on me that will be hard to shake. I have a kind of PTSD after this experience. It’s a lovely property and with better management, it could be great. Maybe arrange a shuttle into Golfo Aranci or Olbia if there’s interest? I’m sure there will be takers. Give the group a pick-up and drop-off time/location. Customer service training is in desperate, desperate need. You just cannot treat guests this way. No matter your tier. The majority of staff are just so rude. Especially the photographer and the greeters around Sos Aranzos restaurant. A lot of performative nonsense. It’s obvious they don’t really care and especially don’t care about certain guests. Even the check out experience was like “ok, alright”. Like they’d just done me a favour. To the bitter end, this place is awful. Although I was on time for my transfer to the airport, the driver walked straight past me, the only person standing there with a suitcase, I then received an angry call from reception asking me where I was. Completely unnecessary but totally in keeping with the terrible service I'd come to expect. I actually felt dizzy leaving that place. It was like my body knew it was time to get the ********** out of dodge. In summary, the star of the show is that beach. Shame it’s attached to such a terrible place. WIFI is excellent (didn’t want to be on my phone so much but there was nothing else to do). It’s never been easier for me to write such a negative review. I wish it wasn’t the case but I also hope this helps anyone avoid the nightmare experience I had.

Show moreA bit dated but overall clean and practical
Show moreWe recently stayed at VOI Colonna Village and, unfortunately, it didn't live up to its rating. On arrival, the welcome was fairly minimal. We were told the meal times, but little else about the hotel or its facilities. On departure we could not get any assistance with our luggage which would be difficult if you have mobility issues as the whole site is on a steep hill. Our room was clean, but very dated and in need of refurbishment. The beds were basic and not particularly comfortable, the air conditioning was noisy, and the towels were threadbare and ready for replacing. The dining room felt more like a busy school cafeteria than a relaxing restaurant. It was noisy, crowded and chaotic. The staff were lovely, friendly and worked incredibly hard, especially during busy service when they were running to clear and re-lay tables. The biggest disappointment was the food. The selection was limited, and there was very little signage to explain what each dish contained, making it difficult to identify allergens. Even more concerning was the temperature of the food. Dishes that should have been served hot, such as sliced meats in sauces, potatoes and eggs, were barely warm. The fried eggs were actually cold, as though they had come straight from the fridge. The pasta station served freshly cooked food each meal, although even that wasn't particularly hot. I ended up eating mainly salads throughout the week which did dampen my holiday vibe! The bar snacks were also disappointing, consisting mainly of leftover breakfast pastries. I only discovered halfway through the holiday that the pool bar had crisps available if you specifically asked for them. The resort caters largely for Italian guests, which creates a lovely family atmosphere. The pool area was excellent. The pool itself is beautiful, there were always plenty of sunbeds available, and a lifeguard was on duty throughout the day. We were on an all-inclusive package and, although the choice of drinks at the pool bar was fairly limited, it was perfectly adequate for us as we're not big drinkers. The entertainment team deserve special mention. They were full of energy, genuinely friendly and worked tirelessly from morning until night. They ran activities such as yoga, aqua fit and games during the day, then organised the children's entertainment before putting on a different show for adults each evening. They encouraged guests to join activities without ever being pushy, always stopping for a chat and greeting everyone with a smile. The beach was another highlight. Although quite small and busy, with sunbeds packed closely together in typical Mediterranean style, it had soft sand and wonderfully warm, crystal-clear, shallow water. Two sets of buoys marked the safe swimming area, making it ideal for families. There isn't a hotel beach bar, so drinks need to be purchased from the nearby public café. Overall, there were some positives, particularly the hardworking staff, entertainment team, pool and beach, but the tired accommodation and poor quality of the food meant this hotel fell well short of the standard I was hoping for. I wouldn't choose to return.
Show moreNot all inclusive as per other holidays we have been on. very limited drinks available at the pool bar. Very confusing process at the airport
