Tipp

The room (8025) was extremely dated, tired and not befitting of a 4* hotel (TUI 5 T rated). The air con was archaic, the laminated flooring was low quality, unsuitable for cleaning with water, hence previous damage to joints, signs of wear all over, bad scuff marks in multiple places on floor, walls with damage, cheap electrical fittings, covers falling off at slightest touch, damaged furniture, shower cheap and ineffective, rusted fittings, covers falling out regularly, water pressure poor. On balcony, peeling paint on wooden balcony edge, peeling paint near towel rails, flaking on floor, maintenance clearly not acceptable for a hotel of this rating. Main lighting in room, a floor standing lamp had a blown bulb, reported twice, never replaced. Lifts were unpredictable, one in particular, the closest to our room, would not allow four normal adults to use, giving overweight warnings. Strange as it was fine for the first 4 days of our stay. Again reported twice and never addressed. Housekeeping: was the worst we’ve ever experienced in all our TUI holidays, only the bare minimum was done, made bed, cleaned mirror, refolded towels. Floors weren’t swept, shower wasn’t cleaned. Towels missing one day. On one occasion, the middle sheet was screwed up at the foot of the bed and the cover and top sheet were neatly made over the top, just lazy and sloppy. However, this is all eclipsed as after a long day away from our room we returned to find the door open. I immediately reported this to reception, who simply said that they’d report it. No apology, no explanation. This is a serious security issue. The food was decent in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner without being exceptional. The Culinarium was fantastic, both in the food served and the service. The lunch restaurant was too small and poorly arranged which lead to queuing often, restocking was slow. Staff in restaurants were either great or rather poor, unfortunately the great ones were a rare breed. Often plates were left on tables for too long, drinks orders regardless of whether a few drinks or many were often wrong or ‘forgotten’. Notable great staff were Israel, Yasael, Jose Miguel, Daniel, Gisely (beach bar). Evening bar staff generally were great and worked hard. Loved the sun bed monitoring before 10am, worked well. Sunbeds around pool are too close together, and the website claim of a ‘being designed for couples and adults seeking tranquility’ is spoilt by the ‘very close’ Aquapark with 10am-6pm opening hrs and its loud music, safety announcements and screaming children. Sadly, this is the first negative review we’ve ever had to submit.
