Booking Reference ********** Date Of Departure 05/10/2026 Lead name Moliss Laura Dorothy Forbes I wish to formally make a big complaint and demand a full explanation as to why the below happened and a full refund plus recompense for all the trauma I am still suffering from. I booked an adapted Family Suite At The Ravanella Attitude in Mauritius in February 25. For travelling on the 05/10/26. This was all confirmed by TUI special assistance department who confirmed all this by email which I still have. I Also contacted the hotel the next day after booking with TUI back in February 25 I still have the email to get them to send me a picture of the room particularly the grab rail fixed by the toilet. I need this particular fixed rail to assist me with my balance while transferring as I can’t walk and have no balance. They sent pictures of that room type to reassure me. Fast forward to a few days before I depart the UK (3/1026) and I had asked the hotel for a picture of the bedroom layout and they sent pictures of a completely different room to the one before. When I realised there was no grab rail the hotel explained that they had renovated and “some minor changes had been made “ So I contacted Mary At TUI Assisted Travel Tickets no [ Ticket: **********... who emailed me to confirm that they had been in touch directly with the hotel and all my accessibility needs would be accommodated and a fully equipped adapted room. Bear in mind this was 3 days before leaving for my trip that I had confirmed nearly 2 years beforehand. Upon arrival there was no shower seat like you had confirmed to me. When they did bring a free standing shower seat I couldn’t use it. When they put one on the wall for me I couldn’t use the shower safely on my own as there was nothing to hold onto to get out the grabrail was placed on the wall behind you the wall that you couldn’t reach. So my friend had to shower me. Which took away my independence because she also had to help me with the toilet seat because it wasn’t a fixed rail like when I booked it. Or like what you confirmed to me by picture and email 3 days before leaving the UK only on the 3/10/25) It had been renovated and the grab rail taken away (like the hotel had explained to me only when I looked at a picture and realised that there was no suitable disabled facility for toilet) When I pointed this out to your assisted travel department ie why did the hotel not notify TUI so in turn you could then notify guests or amend your online adaptations nobody could answer that question and nobody seemed particularly interested. The picture that TUI assisted travel department sent me reassuring me that they had been in direct contact with the hotel and I was getting a fixed to the wall grab rail and a fully accessible bathroom was a lot of nonsense. The hotel sent me an email saying they didn’t ever have toilets like that and that they didn’t know where TUI got that picture from. I have all the emails and pictures as proof. What I am most annoyed about is that anyone declined to tell me that there was no shower seat for a disabled guest even though you knew I needed it why was I then placed in a room without it. So after travelling 2 days from the uk we had to wait from 12-4 in reception while the team tried to fit a shower seat.. Also the safe I couldn’t use it was very high up as was the wardrobe hangers, there was nothing way I could reach. Your hotel team came with a new safe but just left it it wasn’t fitted or secured so anybody could walk away with it so it was useless. I had been assured by you that this was suitable and could be used by a solo disabled traveller, I have the email just let me know how or where you would like me to send all the videos, pictures and emails proof to. How was this room accessible for even a solo disabled traveller never mind me. I couldn’t even access the room as there was a ramp up to it and when I tried myself the wheelchair would start falling backwards and was not safe so my friend always had to push me. Also to get to my room from reception was up a hill that I couldn’t do myself. The room had steps down to the balcony as well so I couldn’t wheel out there I couldn’t fit anyway we tried. Your local TUI representative said on the Wednesday there would be no point in moving anywhere because all of the toilets were similar and of the same standard. I have again email proof of this as soon as he said I typed it down. So I had no choice but to come home. I can’t stay somewhere unsafe to have a shower I kept nearly falling as nothing to hold onto getting out and the toilet seat kept coming unattached it was just suctioned on. Every time I kept going to the toilet even with my friends help I kept nearly falling and it was impossibly low to the point I flushed and if I didn’t remember to try and stand up my bottom got soaked. Yet your disabled toilet in reception has a normal height and a proper fixed to the wall grab rail like I told you I needed for my Safety. The whole experience has been a nightmare and your hotel team the day I was leaving didn’t come near me. I was advised that they would be on hand to assist my smooth return journey back home to the UK. They seen my friend in reception and gave her a piece of paper for me to sign basically saying don’t put stuff on social media yeah the bit of paper that wasn’t even given to me personally or explained to my friend just give it to her to sign? I said I don’t understand the other 3 clauses so go tell them no I don’t understand it so I’m not signing it. When we were checking out a manager was there speaking to someone then just walked away and he did recognise me as I had been crying so upset the night before wanting to go home so he knew about all the issues I was experiencing. Also the worker from guest experience the older gentleman no where to be seen when I was leaving. All your staff knew about the situation and not one came and apologised or even said by. So upsetting. So it’s not just we are sorry that it didn’t make your expectations (The hotel had sent me a very upsetting email saying enjoy your flight home and we are sorry the hotel didn’t meet my expectations) it is basic human needs that I couldn’t do safely so I had no choice but to return home. I paid £5600 for a disabled adapted room to have it all confirmed by TUI and the hotel. Then fly halfway around the world to not have the facilities I was told it did have and I paid £400 extra with TUI online for the particular room type. So after meaty 2 years of booking and saving I spent a lot of money on this nightmare trip. I was so looking forward to it I had planned and booked so many trips and was so excited. This was my dream holiday and it has been shattered. I am so so so sad and destroyed and will not travel anywhere again as this awful nightmare has put me off. After 2 long days travelling to get to Mauritius I get there Tuesday spend Wednesday and fly home Thursday get home Friday (last night)  Your team didn’t support me on my day of departure they didn’t acknowledge me especially the manager. I am absolutely devastated and exhausted and completely unwell probably due to everything and the dirt and dust in my room and headboard on my bed. Pictures evidence I have. The room was being deep cleaned when we arrived that’s why we had to wait till 2.10 then when I saw there was no shower seat we waited till about 4 for that to be fitted plus the room was being deep cleaned again because it was still unclean. So the pictures I have attached are after it being “deep cleaned “ 2 times when I arrived. I have also attached all the plans I had so you can see I really had looked forward and planned this holiday for 2 years. Iam particularly annoyed that Thomson TUI holidays had sent bathroom pictures that were untrue because had emailed me to say I don’t know where they have got that information from it’s the toilet seat that you had shown me but you never said oh but hold on that accessible room we are giving you has no shower seat, or it doesn’t have a flat entrance door or there is steps to access balcony, or clothes rail and safe up high you can’t reach or bathroom door not wide enough for a wheelchair to turn properly and close it. Or the accessible room we have given you is up a steep hill that wheelchair users can’t do I could go on. I have been left traumatised, depressed, sick and very very sad by the whole situation. I will be looking for a full refund and explanation and compensation for this big muck up from yourself and TUI Holidays. Laura Forbes
