    Resort is in a jungle setting which is beautiful. It has a water smell and has lots of moskitos which should be expected but be prepared for. There is lots of wildlife which is absolutely magical. We loved it.

    Really lovely resort overall, amazing location and particularly loved all the animals that appeared on site and nature. Good selection of food and drinks and staff are extremely friendly.

    Some of the facilities were good - including the cenote. The waiting and bar staff were friendly, and we liked the village feel of the hotel - particularly at night when the streets were all lit up. Unfortunately that’s were the positives end. The accommodation is not like the pictures, the rooms are not bright and spacious, they were dark, not clean and very very tired. The bathroom door/shower head were green and mouldy, the light fittings were dirty and dusty. We were missing bits of skirting, the “wood panelling” wallpaper was peeling off and there were sockets taped up at the side of the bed. Definitely not the lovely hotel room we were expecting for the money we paid. The hotel likes to hard sell their Elite club to guests, and then are not interested when you politely decline. The check in was rushed and we were given very little information about the hotel, other than download the map and this is your room number. So we didn’t know which restaurants we could/ couldn’t use etc. The water park doesn’t match the pictures, it’s is rundown and half the slides (which look big in the photos) my 10yr old was too tall for. The pools were also crumbling under foot and are badly maintained - again not what we expected. We felt that the hotel really needed upgrading. All in all this is not a hotel we would recommend. We ended up moving to another hotel after the 1st week.

    Sandos Caracol is a totally different place to anywhere we have stayed before, definitely a one in a lifetime stay. Loots of food and drinks available all the time, great friendly hosts, plenty of things to do on site.
