    Very good overall. Checking in and out is a terrible experience. Reception is always very busy and very slow. Food is good overall and a great amount of variety via the restaurants. Service level is ok, service level changes depending on tips rather than being tipped for good service. Pools had scum lines around the top which was off putting especially as a leisure facility operator. Purely a lack of cleaning. Adults only pool was allowing non adults into the pool which diminished service and experience in the adult pool. Was initially put into the corner of the facility which is adjacent to the RIU nightclub. Had blaring music and bass vibrating the room for the first 3 nights until they could accommodate moving us, which gave us terrible sleep quality in the first few days.

    The hotel is fantastic, beach incredible, facilities ample and fantastic. It lacks cleanliness around and in the pools and general pool areas. Entertainment team are the worst I’ve experienced at a riu. Been to Riu tequila and playacar and they’re fantastic. At palace bavaro if you aren’t Dominican or Latino they made zero effort to involve us in activities, which I don’t mind however we had an 8 year old who’s two precious riu experiences from the entertainment team were brilliant so she was very disappointed, got asked to join in just one activity in a whole 11 night stay. Bar and waiter staff are brilliant, more entertaining and have more personality than the entertainment team which is strange tbh. Probably the only country I’ve been to where your tip or lack there of dictates your level of service. Again I’ve been to Rius in the region before and that wasn’t the case, not sure what can be done to improve it to be honest
