Pestana Royal in Maderia is a very well situated hotel and close to the main town Funchal. It also has a small parade of shops within walking distance.

The hotel was very clean, the staff worked really hard. The food was nice with plenty of variety. The facilities were nice and the animators were great. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.

The hotel generally was lovely. However, the individual room wasn't great. There were electrical sockets that were loose on the wall, the shower was a mixer shower, it took some time to get a decent temperature. The food area was too small, at busy times, the staff struggled to keep up and the queues were large. The 'special ' restaurants were fairly poor, especially the Italian one, the food was very basic and less appealing than the main buffet room. The staff were very friendly and hard working
