Check In & First Impressions Arriving at around 2am was later than we were initially supposed to be, in turn most of the staff were already off. We checked in with the night team, and were given various bits of information. I suppose the only thing I would say is filling out paperwork manually after travelling and dealing with delays etc. It would have been helpful to either do it the day after or have tablets to complete the paperwork – as with a number of the surveys. We paid the local taxes which were around 350dhm and then were shown to our room. Upon arrival the lobby area is impressive, it’s stunning in the dark, but even more so the following morning. Our Room We booked a family room which was two single beds pushed together, and one sofa bed. There was a fridge, a wardrobe, a TV and a table and chairs. The small terrace likewise has space for drying swimwear and a table and chairs. The bathroom is well equipped and adequate for a family also. The fridge mentioned above is empty, however at the time to note, it can be stocked with beer and soft drinks, I won’t put the price in as I’d expect it’s subject to change. Initial Observations (Sorry these are a bit all over the place). Get the app as soon as you can, you’ll find all of the important information within it – like the cocktail menus . The hotel is super secure whether on the beach or within the hotel grounds. Security everywhere and multiple lifeguards around the pool. You can get food and drinks pretty much at all times, whether at the pool and snack bar or in the main restaurant which has the lobby bar nearby. There are also drinks machines within the main restaurant. Sun loungers around the pool at times can be a challenge to find. At the beach you won’t have issues. The demand for pizza, especially at the snack bar is huge, so you will probably have to wait – but it is worth waiting for, incredible and freshly made. Like all of the staff – they do the most amazing job. The wifi in places can be a bit patchy, I used esims to bridge the gap. Tui provided a 1gb esim, and when that ran out I bought one from Lebara. There are a couple of sort of pop up bars, one outside the show lounge, and one that appears under the canopy next to the pool on an evening around showtime. These were just the ones I noted down as the holiday progressed. The Weather All of my previous trips into Agadir have been as a member of cruise ship staff. I don’t ever recall visiting in the summer, as it traditionally would have been a winter port of call. It only rained once, one evening. The weather was changeable during our stay there were periods where it was cloud free blue skies but there were also periods where the visibility was relatively poor. Food & Drinks I don’t really know where to start with the food. I didn’t eat a bad meal during our stay. I can honestly say it was some of the best food I’ve eaten in a hotel. It was fresh, it was hot, it was exceptional in terms of quality. It doesn’t really matter where you eat either. We ait most lunches at the pool/snack bar, and every dinner at the main restaurant. The only place we didn’t eat – because our kids are super fussy – was the Moroccan restaurant. There was always a bar open, always somewhere to get a drink and as I mentioned above it is possible to get soft drinks, wine and beer in the main restaurant. A nice touch was the evenings where cocktails were served as sort of a cocktail of the day in the lobby bar. The Beach The beach was great, especially with the kids, who, aside from when they buried themselves in the sand, then complained about getting sand everywhere – loved it. Joking aside, there are miles of well utilised sand, locals galore making use of the beach. All of the hotels have various sectioned off areas for themselves with volleyball courts and their own respective sun loungers and tables. There is also a stretch of around 3 miles of promenade which I found to be perfectly safe. It leads all the way to the Marina. Both the beach and promenade are actively patrolled and protected by police and lifeguards. The police are on horseback, quads and on foot. I’ve literally never felt safer. The Entertainment Team & Shows To cover off again my background is cruise ship work, a large part of what makes the passenger experience work is the entertainment team and the shows. I cannot stress this enough, the show and entertainment teams at this hotel are up there with the hardest working I’ve ever come across. Tarik and Fifi were incredible with our children – not to take anything away from the rest of the team, I just wanted to give them a special mention. The shows were superb too, the MJ and the Round the World Shows were our favourite. Show team also making additional appearances in the restaurant and during the day also. A couple of other standouts were the foam party, and the full moon party. Bar, Restaurant(s), and Housekeeping Teams. They were all simply superb, but again there were a few who really made us feel at home, Rachid at the pool bar, Hassan at the show lounge bar, Youssef (who worked in most of the bars), All of the reception team who were amazing and always happy to answer questions and make recommendations. Our housekeeper who’s name I didn’t manage to get. A special mention to Yessine in the main restaurant who always seemed to know when we were coming and always was happy to move two tables together before we were even at the tables. Summary In short we had the most unbelievable stay at the Iberostar. Would I stay here again? Without a doubt. Would I recommend to someone? Absolutely no doubt about it. Are there things that could be improved – of course, but that’s not unique to this hotel. People make the place in my opinion, and what this hotel has is not so easy to replicate. There is a group of staff who go over and above the expectations to ensure guests have the best holiday possible.
