It was the second time we stayed at gala placidia and found everything satisfactory for what we wanted

Great value for money, clean and the staff were polite and friendly. However, there was no fridge in the rooms which didn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. That would be a great addition to the rooms especially if you are self catering.

Sadly we were given the wrong room we were on the 8th floor overlooking a noisy road. We had booked a superior room with pool view. We immediately went to reception and was told as it was nearly 1am the chap on reception was only security and he couldn’t change our room so to put up with it tonight and see reception at 9am to get the correct room. So we spent the first night living out of our bags and waited until 9am the following day. When I visited reception and explained our problem the man was grumpy and although I proved what I had booked I had to contact Tui he couldn’t help me!! I had trouble getting in touch with Tui so went back to reception and asked him to contact you he said he wasn’t allowed to? I asked if I could use his phone and he said no. So I asked if he could suggest what I do as my network wouldn’t let me phone Tui. He was at least helpful there and told me to dial without using the 44 at the front of the number. I managed to contact Tui and immediately felt assisted and valued. The lady was very helpful and said she would contact the hotel and arrange for us to get a new room. We left it for a good half an hour and returned to reception to be told by mr grumpy he had heard from Tui and has passed the information on to the booking office and we had to wait for them to tell him to move our room. Again had the not my problem attitude!! I told him I didn’t feel he had been very helpful at all. I asked if the booking office was at the sister hotel and he said yes so suggested u visited them there but he said no there is no public access to the booking office!! So off we went again to wait bearing in mind apart from breakfast being open the bar wasn’t open to get a drink while we waited so had to go down the hill to find a bar to get a drink while we waited. Tui did phone us back and said she would chase it up and get back to us when our room was ready to move. I had told the Tui rep how grumpy and unhelpful the reception man was. A while later my phone rang and it was mr grumpy telling me it was all sorted and I could collect the key for our new room which he said he had chosen the end of the corridor for us so it was nice a quiet. He also said there was no rush to swop rooms and take as long as we like. I presume Tui had told him to stop being mr grumpy and become mr helpful and nice!! We went to reception to get our key and asked for a safe key too he said he would not charge us for the safe key in this occasion. We got our keys and swopped room allowing us to unpack our bags and at last start to enjoy our holiday. Mr grumpy became mr friendly and helpful from then on. The restaurant staff were fantastic as was the food. The bar staff not so great and confused us by the first night saying we didn’t need to use the discs we were given for drinks in the evening only for round the pool then the next night were told we couldn’t have a drink without our discs that were in our room because we were told we didn’t need them the night before so I think the bar staff need to all sing from the same song sheet!! He did let us have a drink when I told him what we were told the night before but he wasn’t happy and vertically threw the drinks at us. Do we had me grumpy bar man and other one was mr nice guy!! The entertainment was very much computer run the girls were friendly but it was all quiz’s there was no games like bingo or staff and guest fun interaction like when we visited the hotel about ten years ago and a drag queen run the show we laughed until we cried the whole holiday. We list one night of entertainment as it was a reptile show and I have a fear of snakes etc so early to bed for us that night. There was also a foam party advertised that my friend was excited about but we found out the day before that wasn’t happening as it was only in the school holiday so we feel the advert should of been removed. We were told at the airport there was contact numbers etc at the hotel should we need to contact our rep while away but as mr grumpy in reception pointed out to us there was a jet2 desk but not even a telephone number on the wall for Tui all our information was online on my phone so if I list my phone or had it stolen I had no point of contact to get any assistance from Tui and me grumpy certainly would help me!! So the long and the short of it is please arrange to have done contact details displayed at the hotel for Tui guests to turn to when needed. Please make sure you order the correct accommodation that your guests have booked so they can get on withvrekaxing and enjoying there holiday without wasting so much of their time chasing what they were entitled to please ask the hotel to update their entertainment information to avoid disappointment maybe look at improving the evening entertainment with a bit more fun stuff!! Please do compliment the restaurant staff for the fantastic service they provide I told them that maybe they need to train the rest of the hotel staff!! All in all we would use this hotel again as value for money the food and drinks are great the hotel is very clean and as two older woman travelling alone we did feel safe.

The food was not great, very bland and no taste. The daily entertainment was terrible, hardly anything on and the evening enertainment was too late.

Pools not open until 10am, walking access to pools. No fridge or tea coffee facilities. Do not cater for disabilities. NO REP AVAILABLE.
