Hotel Illa D’or was fabulous but they don’t have enough sun loungers. At check in they made a point of saying that sun beds couldn’t be booked before 9am. Went down for breakfast at 8:30 and all the best beds were taken.

The Illa d'Or in Puerto Pollensa is a high class hotel, well above a 4* in terms of overall ambiance, food, service, etc. and with an exclusive feel. The location on the Pine Walk which is directly on the beach is excellent, quiet but only 15 minutes walk to the harbour and busy centre of Pollensa sea front with its shops & restaurants. Pollensa bay is very sheltered with shallow waters, even at high tide. Cosmopolitan guests, including lots of Spanish people. Children were catered for in terms of child menus, but there is no organised entertainment for them, or for adults. Not the sort of hotel where travel representatives are in attendance, but that suits us as the App is available if TUI input is required. Entertainment consisted of live music at the outside restaurant area at the beach, but it finished at 9pm every night, so did not disturb sleep. Breakfast food was plentiful with lots of choice of hot and cold food. The buffet area was attended by staff who ensured the serving area was immaculate, food topped up regularly or rearranged in a neat fashion. Dinner was well above our experience at other 4* hotels, with a menu on a par with high class restaurants, a choice of 5 starters, mains and desserts, different each day, all looking & tasting very appetising and served by waiting staff, rather than at a buffet (though there was also a buffet area for \"pre-starters\", small portions of fruit, cheese, meats etc.). We had a sea view balcony room with a large terrace with a double sunbed with shade over - useful in 30 degrees plus temperatures. Recommend a sea view WITH BALCONY as \"sea view\" rooms only have windows if a balcony is not specified. Efficient cleaners changed towels daily even if they were hung up, beds were turned down at night (plus a chocolate left on the pillow!). Large bottle of water replenished daily, though tea, coffee & milk offering was small. Kettle plus coffee machine, with extra pods, milk etc. available to buy at a nearby shop. Mini bar is small and packed with drinks, snacks etc, to buy, so no room for your own milk - or wine, snacks etc.
