    “Keine 5 Sterne”

    Der Urlaub war leider sehr enttäuschend, da die Familienbungalows sehr veraltet sind. Wir hatten sogar nach mehrfachen Zimmerwechsel immer wieder Ameisen auf unseren Anziehsachen und Zahnbürsten weshalb wir nie wieder in dieses Hotel kommen werden. Die Anlage an sich ist ganz schön. Das Essen bietet auch nur 4 Sterne, und es ist auf jeden Fall kein Luxushotel.

    “Familienhotel und kein 5 Sterne Hotel für Urlaub ohne Kinder”

    Wir kennen die Grecotels bereits und hatten uns auf einen niveuvollen Urlaub mit 5 Sterne Niveau eingestellt und gefreut. Dass das Grecotel Palace aber über die Wintermonate renoviert und vor allem in seiner Ausrichtung in ein Familien- und Kinderhotel verändert wurde, war uns nicht bekannt und wurde uns auch nicht mitgeteilt. Wir haben selbst (erwachsene) Kinder und nichts gegen Kinder im Hotel, wir waren 2023 im nahegelegenen Grecotel Boutique Caramel und begeistert. AUch dort gab es Kinder, aber das Hotel ist nicht ein Familienhotel und wird dem Anspruch der 5 Sterne gerecht. Wir fahren häufig in 5 Sterne Häuser und haben deshalb in verschiedenen Ländern einen guten Vergleich, aber das Grecotel Palace hält diesem keinesfalls Stand. Wir zweifeln auch daran, dass mit dieser hohen Kinderfrequenz ein 5ter Stern zu halten ist. Weiters war die Reinigung in unserem Zimmer nicht zufriedenstellend (vor allem in einem 5 Sterne Haus!), z.B. wurden gebrauchte Gläser oder Tassen nicht ausgetauscht, Frotteewaren nicht ausgetauscht. Eine 3 Minuten Reinigung für ein Zimmer ist nicht ausreichend. Wir haben es auch noch nicht erlebt, dass wir in einem 5 Sterne Haus nicht jederzeit eine Liege, sei es am Meer oder am Pool, zur Verfügung hatten. Da es auch am Strand zu wenig liegen (trotz vorhandenem Platz) gab, wurden dort Badetücher bei längerer Abwesenheit vom Hotelpersonal entfernt.

    Positives- the restaurants in all inclusive package were brilliant. The shops on site were great, the Greco Farm experience was amazing (although got bitten to death, citronella candles perhaps needed!) The kids pool was good, slides brilliant, and the overall cosmetic was great, the beach bar service and main bar service also great. Extra credit to the pavilion, and large trattoria staff, they were brilliant accommodating food menus for my autistic children. Also the para-sailing on the beach was brilliant, and they accommodated our children. You got jetski'd on a huge inflatable out to the boat, then the boat ride and parasailing, then back in reverse so felt like 3 experiences in one which was an amazing early evening experience, even my 5 year old loved it and my 9 year old did the parasailing too! Wonderful memories made. Negatives: Although the buffet restaurant was good for adults, we found it very poor choice for children, especially in the evening, and the staff not as attentive and had one very rude encounter on my first morning. The rooms were very dated and basic for price and 5 star and did not match the hotel grounds standards- the toilets on the beach were far more luxurious than the rooms! And the shower floods the bathroom as is a fall hazard. The entertainment, overall was poor, especially for children at night, with many nights nothing on in summer holidays. The only poor food we had at a main restaurant -you actually paid extra- was the Antica, and the coffee shop on-site is not included which was frustrating, also some drinks on the menu's were not in the all inclusive package, but was not clear until you ordered- could be at least indicated. There also was not enough sunbeds by far, causing full sunbed wars, especially the children's pool area. The reception staff were incredibly rude on multiple occasions, they were not accommodating for late check out and made to feel you were difficult asking to pay for a room upgrade- when despite claiming rooms full, the hotel was not as busy on the last half. You are made to use the spa facilities to get ready when flights were 1am (no other tui flight option, especially as we landed at 3am the otherside) and not geared up to get ready in with children at all, you feel an inconvenience, which when paying a lot of money, is not how you want to feel. Once checked out of the hotel at 11am, the hotel deactivates your app and do not give you an alternative code to use as its all hotel numbers to get any drinks or food- which results in the staff being incredibly rude and hostile when trying to get food and drink, especially when we had paid for 7 full days and nights, and was a true 7th day. One of the staff at the King Minos, same staff member from the restaurant the night before, even called my husband a Greek swear word but smiled, not knowing he understood it, not what we expect from a 5 star hotel at all. So, I will not return or recommend, especially if you have children or late flights. Also check the hotel website for room layouts, as we didnt realise it was 1 bathroom vs 2 bathrooms for the one grade up, which would have saved a lot of very uncomfortable conversations.
