Rooms were small with glass doors on bathrooms. Food was terrible

Firstly it’s not a hotel it’s a village of small units. We had a bungalow with a lovely terrace with sun beds and small table and chairs, all good. There was no bathroom door or even a small separation wall between toilet which could be seen from bed! Our room only cleaned once, we had to ask for towels and water. Also guests should be told not to use the water, it’s not drinkable nor can you make coffee with it when boiled, it’s curdles the milk. We had a Nespresso in our room but no plug to plug in. The fridge and tv had a fixed plug, a broken one in bathroom, two bedside shelves about 6” wide so couldn’t use for nespresso unit as too small. The terrace floor needs a really good wash as it was filthy with bird poo splattered all over. The food was very good. Lots of choice for everyone, there was something for all tastes. Restaurant very clean and food was continually replenished. As AI guest, why do we get local drinks in plastic glasses whilst HB get International drinks in glasses. AI pay upfront so should get the same. We arrived on a Wednesday, market day. It was packed and we struggled to get through to our room as no one would move.tired travellers need assistance on a Wednesday, there must be a short cut!

The accommodation was open plan with only an ill fitting glass 'shower' door separating the sleeping area with the toilet/shower area. So privacy was a problem, I think people should be made aware that some rooms do not even have a glass door and are completely open plan! The shower, as there was no door on it, would spray water outside of the shower area so the floor would always be wet. There was no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, though bottled water was supplied daily. The room was clean and a good size. There was no where to hang wet swimmers/towels other than the wall of the outside area. The stairs leading up to our room were quite narrow and steep so was difficult for myself to get my suitcase up and down. It would have been nice to have had seats to sit on outside the room. Food options were very limited, with the same everyday. The midday choice was extremely limited and would have benefitted from having cheese and cold meats on offer. Very small selection of puddings and not enough choice for vegetarians. Despite it being table service for drinks we did have to go up to get our own drinks and we often had to wait for a member of staff to become available to do this. The staff were very good, friendly and helpful on the whole but there seemed to be not enough staff on hand particularly at meal times. The pool area was closed every evening for cleaning but it didn't look like this was done in the 7 days we were there as there was evidence to show it wasn't cleaned. Nice short walk into Es Cana and to the beach on the other side of the resort.
