    This was our second visit to Elounda Bay Palace - which we have enjoyed on both visits - last year (June) we requested a quiet room (Mountain view room) allocated room 419 which was a lovely room but unfortunately very close to the kitchen so they kindly moved us to another room (369 ?) which wasn't as nice but it was quiet area so as hotel was busy we accepted it. When booking this year I requested a high/quiet room similar to 419 I also mentioned it was a treat for my wife's 80th birthday - sadly when we arrived we had been allocated room 373 which must we the worst room in the hotel with a structural pillar in both the main room and the bathroom - so we requested a change the next day and they gave us the room next door 375 which only had the pillar in the main room but it was in a quiet area, neither of these rooms resemble the Mountain view rooms shown on the web site. We really like the hotel but the allocation of the room for this visit was very disappointing - we realise this is the hotels decision and not yours.

    The beach and bay are lovely. The maids kept the rooms lovely and clean. The restaurant area is very tried and canteen like, and the service was extremely poor (standing with food in hand and waiting 5 minutes for a table to be cleared and relayed while staff stand and talk) The food was also very poor in tje evening leading us to eat out all but 2 days. The weather before we left was terrible and there was no bar or food area open on the premises. We tried to use the alocarte restaurant three times but could never get in. The pool area was ok but the water was freezing. The local town is nice but a 20 minutes walk away. We have been to Crete a few times now and this experience has spoilt our view of the island. We will not return to Elounda Bay Palace.
