    The hotel was clean and visually pleasing. The staff in general were ok but the pool staff and our butler Starling were exceptional. Without them, I think there would have been a level of dissatisfaction from this holiday experience.

    The staff are wonderful, the resort clean and well maintained. The buffet was excellent, the al-a carte restaurants good (some better than others). Pools are good, particularly the lazy river. There were some nice included extras, such as the coffee shop (offering lattes, espressos, frappes, iced coffees etc. etc.) was within the standard all-inclusive package (which it sometimes isn't at other resorts). The gym was decent for a resort hotel gym. Good mix of evening shows, some better than others, but a decent variety for different tastes. The house band who played the lobby area around dinner times every evening were excellent (and probably the best act!). Points to note: The sea is very heavy with Sargassum (sea weed) and quite choppy at times; obviously, this is not the hotel's fault and indeed they make a lot of effort to clean the Sargassum from beech every morning; but don't go expecting crystal clear water if you are a 'sea person'. The 'Cosmic Lanes' arcade / bowling which gets publicity on the website isn't in the all-inclusive (and is very expensive), so we didn't use it; not that you really go to the Dominican to go bowling.
