Just back from salou and had the worst experience. Staying at hotel California Garden for the 4th time, never any issues before. This time round the hotel had booked some sort of children’s sport event with hundreds of children staying for the week. We had kids running up and down the corridors, screaming, banging on room doors, playing ding dong dash up until 3am!! When politely asked to stop, especially at that time of night the kids were verbally abusive and became more disruptive. I know kids will be kids but this was every night for the entire week we stayed. Hotel staff were clearly aware of this issue as it was apparent other guest had complained however they couldn’t care less and refused to move us rooms or even do anything. The receptionist just told us “this is the way things are in Spain”. Not to mention there being no room in the actual pool, let alone space around it to relax and trying to get something to eat at dinner time was like fighting in a war with all the kids taking all the food and pushing and shoving us adults and other guests out of the way and being verbally abusive. I wish they had informed guests of an event like this before booking as we would as booked elsewhere, it completely ruined our holiday as we got no sleep or any time to relax especially when we had no issues with the hotel the previous times we had stayed. Definitely will not be returning.

Sports event May to August with unruly children no discipline from coaches acting like animals in the restaurant no tables available...food cold or not available children running up and down the corridors until 0200... horrendous

My family of 4 arrived on 27th May. The hotel itself was very pleasant. Maids changed towels every morning, provided toilet rolls, soap etc but no cleaning was actually done. The food was awful! Same food every week on rotation. If you like pork and turkey then you are quids in but unfortunately none of my family like pork or turkey so we had chicken one night out of 14. No options for kids except pasta with either bolognese sauce or carbonara/cheese sauce. My kids lived on rolls and toast for breakfast for 2 weeks. Most nights once we had been in the restaurant to see what was available we actually ate out. The food was always cold. The warmest thing if you got them in time was the chips. After paying for half board for breakfast and dinner we felt it was a waste of money as we spent more money eating out because the food experience in the hotel was extremely bad. I did email the hotel to tell them this but their response was shocking so I actually never replied to them. I understand this is the case in most 3 star hotels in Salou but I seriously think this needs looked at before someone ends up ill.

Very clean with lovely staff always something you can eat at meal times also pool bar food and drinks were at great prices can't complain.
